What is Disney+?

Disney+ is a brand-new streaming platform created by the Walt Disney Company.

It is essentially Disney’s version of ‘Netflix’ and with it, you can stream almost the whole library of Disney content: Disney, Pixar, Lucasfilm (Star Wars), Marvel, and even National Geographic. On top of all that, you are even able to stream certain 20th Century Fox Properties like Home Alone, Avatar, and even all 30 seasons of the Simpsons since Disney now owns 20th Century Fox!

When compared to Netflix price-wise, Disney+ is $2 cheaper. Netflix doesn’t offer you 4K content in all plans, but Disney, on the other hand, offers it for any package.

Below is a price breakdown for everything you get from Netflix:

For $6.99/month or $69.99/year, you can get everything Netflix offers in their Premium Plan in your Disney+ subscription.

Also, Disney+ offers something Netflix does not even have the ability to offer: a bundle plan.

What is this ‘bundle plan’ you ask? Well, here is your comprehensive guide to all things about the Disney Plus Bundle!

What Is the Disney+ Bundle?

The Disney+ bundle is a bundle of three different streaming platforms all owned by Disney:

  • Disney+
  • ESPN+
  • Hulu

For a monthly price of $12.99, you can get all three of these streaming services.

If you were to buy all three of these subscription services separately, you would be paying a total of $17.97/month:

  • Disney+ $6.99/month
  • Hulu $5.99/month
  • ESPN+ $4.99/month

In total, the bundle saves $4.98 each month. Essentially, you’re getting ESPN+ for free.

Unfortunately, there is no bundle option that allows you to pay yearly if you so desired, so you must get the month-to-month plan if you intend on getting this unique bundle.

What is Hulu?

Hulu is one of the streaming services you get in the Disney+ Bundle along with Disney+ and ESPN+.

Hulu is a streaming service that launched on October 29, 2007. It was actually created by NBC Universal; the parent company of NBC Studios and the Universal Studios theme parks. So, you might be wondering why then, does Disney now own Hulu? Well, before March of 2019, NBC Universal was the primary majority stockholder in Hulu thus allowing NBC to control most, if not all of it.

However, once the Walt Disney Company gained 20th Century Fox in March of 2019, Disney then gained 60% of the shareholdings in Hulu pushing NBC’s shareholdings to 33% thus causing NBC to know longer own and regulate Hulu. With all that has happened, NBC has agreed to sell Disney their 33% giving them full and complete ownership by 2024.

Hulu is the place Disney will be placing their ‘less than family-friendly’ content from 20th Century Fox as well as it is the place you can expect to find other movies, tv shows, and Hulu Originals.

Upon signing up for Hulu, there are two subscription options you can choose from: Hulu and Hulu + Live TV. The price for Hulu and Hulu + Live TV will vary depending on if you choose to purchase any add-ons, however, Hulu starts at $5.99/month and Hulu + Live TV starts at $44.99/month.

In the Disney+ Bundle, you get the basic Hulu plan that is $5.99 and also comes with ads.

Unfortunately, at this time you cannot ‘upgrade’ to the other plan or add any addons to the Disney+ bundle.

What Is ESPN+?

ESPN+ subscription sign-up page

ESPN+ is the third streaming service you get with the Disney+ Bundle.

Launched on April 12, 2018, ESPN+ allows you to stream tons of sporting events like Top Rank Boxing, MLB, NHL, MLS, Serie A, FA Cup, and much more like college sports right from your phone or device without the need for cable.

Plus, ESPN+ also gives you access to exclusive original programming like Peyton’s Places, Detail from the Mind of Kobe Bryant, The Fantasy Show with Matthew Bryant and much more.

ESPN+ by itself is only $4.99/month and with the Disney+ Bundle you essentially get it free! If you want to have a one-stop place for everything movies, shows, and sports, the Disney+ bundle is exactly what you want, but how do you know if it is indeed right for you?

How to Know If the Disney+ Bundle Is Right For You

Are you someone who enjoys movies, sports, and TV shows? If you answered YES to all these questions, the Disney+ bundle may be right for you.

Another question you need to ask is are you personally going to watch most of the content on Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+?

If the answer is no to even one of them, you probably will not want to buy this bundle. For example, some people will watch Disney+ and watch Hulu, however, they may not like sports. Others could enjoy sports and shows but do not want the ‘Disney’ content.

This bundle is not for everyone and that is ok.

If you want Hulu but do not want the basic subscription, then the bundle is not for you as well as the bundle only comes with the basic plan.

All in all, if you are fine with certain restrictions in your Hulu service, are someone who enjoys sports and someone who loves Disney content, then Disney+ is the subscription service you are looking for.

How To Purchase the Disney+ Bundle

To sign up for the Disney+ Bundle is easy.

Step 1) Visit the Disney+ Signup Page

Go to the official Disney+ website.

After clicking that, you will then be brought to a screen in which you will enter your email to start the sign-up process.

On this page enter your email, select if you want to receive updates and offers from the Walt Disney Company, and then click on agree and continue. Keep in mind that at this point you are only setting up Disney+ and ESPN+. Later on, you will be sent to create a new account for Hulu in which you can use to access Hulu’s content.

Step 3) Add Billing Info

At this point, you will then be taken to a page to enter your credit card details to purchase the bundle.

Note: there is not a free trial of the bundle so as soon as you put in your credit card information and hit accept after you scroll down, you will be charged the $12.99 for the bundle.

Upon entering your card information, you will then be taken to a screen in which you can set up your Hulu credentials.

From there, you can then use all three subscription services, but keep in mind in order to access them you do need to login on each corresponding website!

All three services can be used across many devices like computers, laptops, Apple TVs, iPads/tablets, Amazon Fire Devices, smartphones, and more. Check the websites for a full list of places you can download each streaming service.

How To Upgrade to the Disney+ Bundle

Already subscribe to either Disney+, Hulu and/or ESPN+ individually and want to upgrade to the Disney+ Bundle?

Well, if you already have any of these existing subscriptions, the great thing is you do not need to cancel them in order to upgrade.

According to the Disney+ website, “your price will automatically adjust accordingly to reflect the other subscriptions you currently have.” They will then email you a specific breakdown of every single charge that has been made and changed depending on your circumstances.

What About Verizon Customers?

You may have heard that if you are a Verizon customer, you could get a free Disney+ offer. Some people do not know this or realize this but this free Disney+ offer is only available to certain Verizon customers.

If you are a Verizon Wireless Customer on an Unlimited plan OR a 5G Home Internet Customer OR a New Fios Home Internet customer, you can acquire this free Disney+ offer.

To sign up, simply head on over to the Verizon website and click on the Disney+ offer to see if you are eligible.

One thing you need to know if you are a Verizon customer you only get Disney+ for one year.

You do not get nor can you upgrade to the Disney+ Bundle.

If you want to have the Disney+ Bundle, you will have to purchase it outright.

Since the Verizon deal is only valid for one year, you will have to either purchase a bundle or subscription to Disney+ afterward if you want to continue using Disney+. In ‘technicality’, Verizon customers essentially get a one-year trial of Disney+ instead of the one-month it offers on the Disney+ website.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Disney+ Bundle is a great option for those who wish to enjoy the benefits of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

In total, you save about 25% when you get all three services bundled, as opposed to buying them separately.

If you are getting the bundle for your family, it is a great option as everyone in your family can enjoy all the content they specifically love and more! If they love sports but not Disney and you enjoy Disney and tv shows but not sports, you each get to enjoy what you love, how you want to watch it, when you want to watch it without any compromise.

Each of these services can be streamed from almost any platform like smartphones and tablets which means the content you want to watch can be enjoyed in all its glory on the go.

If for whatever reason you do not like or enjoy the Disney+ Bundle, you can simply cancel the subscription as there are no strings attached and no contracts to keep. You can keep it for as long as you like and cancel easily through your account whenever you want.
